Fremantle caused a massive upset, defeating North Melbourne on Saturday afternoon by 38-points to advance to a preliminary final against the Adelaide Crows. It was a determined Fremantle side, taking down North Melbourne unexpectedly at Arden Street on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides only kicked a goal each in the 1st quarter. Fremantle started to gain control in the 2nd quarter, kicking 4 goals to 2 and took a 9-point half time lead.
The premiership quarter would see a Fremantle blitz, as they piled on 3 goals to none, and ran away to a 25-point 3 quarter time lead. Jasmine Garner got North 1st goal after half time, to keep a small flame of hope alive. But any hope was quickly faded away, when Fremantle piled on the next 3 goals to run away 38-point winners and book their ticket to Adelaide.
It was a disappointing end to the season for North, who hosted a qualifying final, but showed very little competitiveness. Fremantle deserved winners and will face a tough challenge in minor premiers Adelaide for a spot in the 2022 AFLW grand final.
