AFLW Round 1 Tips and Predictions

We have expert tips and predictions for AFLW Round 1 beginning tonight with Carlton and Collingwood from Ikon Park. As season number seven begins.

Carlton vs Collingwood, Thursday 7:10pm AEST:

Carlton will host Collingwood tonight at Ikon Park, Carlton. Darcy Vescio celebrating game number 50.

Carlton and Collingwood have met six times, with the ledger square at three wins each. Collingwood reached the Elimination finals last year, but lost to Brisbane by 50-points. Carlton finished eighth last year with a 4-6 record.

Carlton vs Collingwood prediction:

Collingwood by 10-points. It will be a close contest but don’t count the Blues out either.

Collingwood start slight favourites at $1.38 to Carlton $2.98

Adelaide Crows vs Melbourne, Friday 7:40pm AEST:

Adelaide will host Melbourne at ACH Group Stadium on Friday night, in a repeat of last seasons Grand Final.

Melbourne travel to Adelaide to avenge their 13-point Grand Final loss, as the Crows brought home their third AFLW premiership.

Adelaide no question enter this season as one of the favourites again. They have a strong record over their history in the AFLW since 2017, four Grand Finals for three premierships. They came in first place last year with a 9-1 record, before going on to beat Melbourne in the Grand Final. Melbourne finished second with the same record, the only loss coming against Adelaide and then the Grand Final to the same side.

Daisy Pierce will look to guide her Melbourne side to one better this year, a premiership after coming runners up last season.

Adelaide Crows vs Melbourne prediction:

Melbourne by six-points to avenge their grand final loss. If Adelaide win, it’ll still be close.

Melbourne start favourites at $1.72 to Adelaide $2.10

North Melbourne vs Gold Coast, Saturday 1:10pm AEST:

North Melbourne will host the Gold Coast Suns at Bloodstone Arena, Melbourne on Saturday afternoon.

North looking to remain on track after last season, where they came in fourth place with a 7-3 record. Only to eliminated surprisingly by 38-points by Fremantle in the Elimination Final.

Gold Coast finished their first season in 10th position with a 3-6 record. It’ll be interesting to see if they can build on that in season seven.

North Melbourne vs Gold Coast prediction:

North Melbourne to win comfortably by 30-points and start off their season right.

North Melbourne vs Gold Coast betting tip:

North start hot favourites at $1.04 to Gold Coast $10.00

West Coast vs Port Adelaide, Saturday 3:10pm AEST:

West Coast will host Port Adelaide at Mineral Resources Park, WA.

Port Adelaide are making their AFLW debut match against the Eagles. We will get our first look at last years wooden spooner’s who finished off last season with a 1-9 record.

West Coast will looking for a lot of improvement in season seven, whilst Port will look to turn some heads in their debut AFLW season.

West Coast vs Port Adelaide prediction:

Port Adelaide to get their first AFLW victory by 10-points.

West Coast vs Port Adelaide betting tip:

Port Adelaide start slight favourites at $1.39 to West Coast $2.93

Sydney Swans vs St Kilda, Saturday 5:10pm AEST:

The Sydney Swans will host St Kilda on Saturday afternoon at North Sydney Oval, in their debut AFLW match.

St Kilda coming off a dismal season where they finished 13th with a 2-8 record. They will looking for improvement this year, while Sydney have a strong football culture up there, so they will want to try and make a finals appearance in their inaugural season.

Sydney vs St Kilda prediction:

St Kilda to win by 10-points and start off on the right note.

Sydney vs St Kilda betting tip:

St Kilda start favourites at $1.62 Sydney $2.26

Essendon vs Hawthorn, Saturday 7:10pm AEST

Essendon and Hawthorn will make their AFLW debut’s at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne on Saturday night.

This match attracted so much ticket demand that the game was moved to Marvel Stadium from ETU Stadium. Bec Godard experienced and AFLW premiership winning coach will look forward to take charge of the Hawks.

Essendon secured the services of the experienced coach Natalie Wood, who will lead the Bombers in their first season in the women’s competition. Essendon got some major talent in the off season, with the likes of Maddy Prespakis, Georgia Gee and Bonnie Toogood (just to name a few).

Hawthorn also picked up some good talent such as Kaitlyn Ashmore and Sarah Perkins. Both teams attacked the draft hard.

Essendon by 15-points.

Essendon start hot favourites at $1.43 to Hawthorn $8.50

Western Bulldogs vs GWS, Sunday 12:10pm AEST:

The Western Bulldogs will host GWS on Sunday at Ikon Park, Carlton.

The Bulldogs came in seventh place last season with a 4-5 record, while the Giants came in ninth with a 4-6 record.

These sides have met four times for two victories each.

Western Bulldogs vs GWS prediction:

Western Bulldogs to win by 20-points.

Western Bulldogs vs GWS betting tip:

Western Bulldogs start favourites at $1.43 to GWS $2.76

Brisbane Lions vs Fremantle Dockers, Sunday 2:10pm AEST:

The Brisbane Lions will host the Fremantle Dockers on Sunday afternoon at the Gabba, Brisbane.

Both sides looking to build towards a Grand Final appearance this season, as Brisbane came third position, but lost the preliminary final to Melbourne heartbreakingly by four-points. Fremantle came fifth position, defeated North Melbourne in the Elimination Final by 38-points, before loosing the preliminary final to Adelaide by 14-points.

This season, Brisbane will look to find the form that led them to their first premiership in 2021.

Brisbane Lions vs Fremantle Dockers prediction:

Brisbane to get the win at home by 25-points and start off their season really well.

Brisbane start hot favourites at $1.13 to Fremantle $5.75

Geelong vs Richmond, Sunday 4:10pm AEST:

Geelong will host Richmond at GMHBA Stadium, Geelong on Sunday evening.

Geelong and Richmond both struggled last season. Geelong coming in 12th position with a 2-8 record.

Richmond coming 11th with a 3-7 record. Both sides will want to take a step forward this season.

Geelong to win a close thrilling contest by 10-points.

Geelong vs Richmond betting tip:
