Melbourne vs Collingwood

MCG Melbourne

Melbourne will take on Collingwood at the MCG tonight, in one of the biggest games of the season.

The second placed Melbourne with a 14-5 record, taking on the third placed Collingwood with the same record. Collingwood enter this clash after winning the ten consecutive games. Collingwood have won four out of the last five games against Melbourne.

Melbourne got back to winning ways last week with 46-point victory over Fremantle. Collingwood held off the challenge from Port Adelaide, to win game number 10 consecutively. Collingwood are the masters at winning close games.

There is no question that both these sides have plenty of firepower. This game could well determine which of these two sides will finish top two. Both sides level on points with three games to play. The one thing Melbourne need to do is capitalise on Collingwood’s close finishes and see if they can over run them.

Hawthorn will host Gold Coast at the University of Tasmania Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks in 13th position with a 7-12 record, facing the 11th place Gold Coast with a 9-10 record. Hawthorn have won three out of the last four clashes with Gold Coast, but Gold Coast have won the last two.

Hawthorn come into this clash following a 12-point loss to St Kilda last weekend. The Suns held on in a thriller against West Coast by three-points.

GWS will host Essendon this Saturday afternoon at Giants Stadium.

GWS in 16th position with a 5-14 record, taking on the 14th placed Bombers with a 7-12 record. GWS have won four out of the last five clashes with Essendon.

GWS got destroyed by Sydney last week by 73-points. Whilst Essendon had a comfortable 48-point Victory over North Melbourne.

Western Bulldogs vs Fremantle

The Western Bulldogs will host Fremantle at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.

The Bulldogs in 10th position with a 10-9 record, desperately trying to keep to keep their finals hopes alive. Taking on the sixth placed Fremantle with a 12-6 record. The Bulldogs have won three out of the last five clashes with the Dockers.

The Bulldogs are coming off a 28-point defeat to Geelong last week, in a game where they had a lot of control but were ultimately over run. Fremantle come in following a 46-point defeat to Melbourne.

This may well be the Bulldogs last chance to get in top 8 contention, if they drop this game it’ll be really tough in the last two games with results also needing to go their way. Fremantle can put themselves in a good position to finish top six.

Geelong will host St Kilda on Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium.

Geelong on top with a remarkable 15-4 record, winning ten consecutive games. Taking on the eighth placed St Kilda with an 11-8 record. Geelong have won four out of the last five clashes with St Kilda, with the Saints breaking that duck in round 9 by 10-points. Coincidently, it was the Cats last game they have lost to this point.

Looking to make it 11 striaght wins this week, the Cats came from behind against the Bulldogs after a slow start to over run them by 28-points. The Saints held on to defeat Hawthorn by 12-points and climb back into the eight.

Port Adelaide will host Richmond on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval.

Port in 12th position with an 8-11 record, taking on the ninth place Richmond with a 10-8 record and still very much in the finals hunt. Richmond have won three out of the last five clashes with Port Adelaide.

Port went down in a close thriller against Collingwood by six-points last week. While Richmond made a mammoth 42-point comeback against the Brisbane Lions to keep their season alive, winning by seven-points.

If Richmond win this game and results go their way, they will be inside the top eight at the end of this round.

North in 18th position with a 2-17 record, facing the fourth placed Swans with a 13-6 record. Sydney have won the last five clashes with North Melbourne.

North got outclassed by Essendon last week by 48-points. While Sydney comfortably took care of GWS by 73-points.

Sydney have the chance to maintain their place in the top four this weekend.

Brisbane will host Carlton at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon.

Brisbane in fifth with a 13-6 record. Carlton in seventh position with a 12-7 record. Brisbane have won four out of the last five clashes with Carlton.

Brisbane come into this game following a huge comeback from Richmond, in a game where they led by 42-points, only to lose in the end by seven-points. Carlton had a horror loss to the Adelaide Crows by 29-points and it could yet put their season in jepardy.

If Carlton can cause an upset, it will as good as secure them a finals spot, something they could have done if not a bottom four side defeat last week.

Brisbane by 25-points, Carlton with a lot of injuries. But don’t count out the Blues from at least being competitive, as their season is on the line.

West Coast vs Adelaide Sunday

West Coast will host Adelaide on Sunday at Optus Stadium.

West Coast in 17th position with a 2-17 record, taking on the 15th placed Adelaide with a 6-13 record. West Coast have won four out of the last five clashes with Adelaide.

West Coast went down in a thriller by three-points to Gold Coast last week. Adelaide upset Carlton by 29-points and put a roadblock in their finals ambitions.
